Gather and compare your ideas / sequences / loops

I would be curious to know if you guys found an easy and seamless trick to gather and compare efficiently your ideas, sequences, loops together when there are a lot ?
(sorry for my terrible english)

ADSR Sample Manager + The New Launcher in S1v7. Takes me about 2 minutes to veer off in a new direction everytime...

I'm probably going out on a limb guessing, but I'll try. If your work with loops or various ideas are fragmented (strewn about on different songs), then unless you save and name them as presets, then they're going to just be all over the place. Basically, the messy room, desk, or file cabinet syndrome.

If I save rendered parts from a loop I've created, I usually look to find another field that I can add what song it's being used with. This helps a lot! Also, if I open the preset later, I'll see it was from a song and not write over it, but rather copy it to modify it further. Software like Arturia have many categories for adding sub names, genres, etc.
Studio One has a helpful sub category as well. There, such as on a preset, I'll add "used on: songname ____________." and add the song.

If you're not working under the guideline of a song, project, or clients project, then you're really doing an injustice to finding your stuff again.

JMO, and maybe you were looking for some other answer. Compliments to your English which seem very good. Far better than my wish of speaking in another language.
Someday, I hope to change that. ; )

Another killer process I use is the MusicLoop format. This one is so useful and can be applied to anything from a synth noodling session to actual audio.

I add all of them to a dedicated folder in my Browser and yank em into ideas when the mood strikes.

Good one. Yes, name a song towards noodling, or even learning a new synth and categorizing the synth as a song really helps find hidden gems. It's like naming boxes in the closet. Not that I'm that good, I'm not (wife is). My life should be as organized as my music workfow. 🤪

Hey Grace de Richebourg, for Studio One, don't forget tagging is now more of a tthing. Call them up, or place them on different tracks for comparison. Storing to track presets is immensely fast, but you really don't want to make that too deep with non usable presets. Weigh out what works best and be consistent with it. Clear saving habits and consistency is the key to both your work, or whom you're working with. Imagine getting Studio time and having an unorganized producer, & mix engineer. Same difference.

Thanks a lot Vocalpoint for your suggestion !

Now lokeyfly, even when i save and name them its a mess...

I need to gather all my ideas in the same place to compare them on the fly so i am hesitating between gathering all my ideas on the arrangement page or in a folder.

But can you clarify what you say here because im not sure to understand;

"If I save rendered parts from a loop I've created, I usually look to find another field that I can add what song it's being used with. This helps a lot! Also, if I open the preset later, I'll see it was from a song and not write over it, but rather copy it to modify it further."

Yes it is very handy for midi but for audio it become audioloops right ?
Then whats the difference between audioloops format and placing audio in a folder not much if i remember well except giving the key and the speed of the audio which is useless for me personally.

Thanks guys for your help really.
My english is limited so im not sure to understand what you mean by " storing to track presets is immensely fast" ?
What feature are you refering to please ?
Initially i used to gather all my ideas on a couple of tracks in the arrangement window, this way it is super easy to compare them but maybe you have a better idea ?

Gathering tracks on the arrangement is great, and likely the easiest way. Of course if you inundated the track presets with too many selections, it will be less easy to find and compare things (let's say about 100 to 200 or less). If that's how you work, I'm not sure why you were asking in the first place. Then your way of comparing works fine.

Are you aware of the Track Presets feature in Studio One 6?

Storing to track presets is as easy as selecting one or more tracks and dragging them into the Browser.

Oh no i did not know that feature, thanks a lot !

Now it is just a preset on the track it does not import the audio which were on those tracks right ?
( i ask the question because even if its very cool to be aware of that new feature im not sure i see the relevance to use it when i want to gather and compare ideas ?)

I never said i gathered tracks on the arrangement window, i just gather all my audios near each others in the arrangement window but mostly on the same single track.
In the first place i was asking the question because it is a bit tedious to import all those audios (ideas) from different songs on the same track !

As Lukas asked, are you aware of the track presets. I also mentioned that earlier. I also added another asset to storing loops, only you never responded to that. It's OK, I deleted that. You needn't get snippy when people are taking the time to assist. Sorry, I didn't understand your needs better. My bad.

Oh im very sorry lokeyfly there must be a misunderstanding here because there is not another person like me who realise more how generous are people like you who spend minutes and sometimes hours to help others like me.
So please accept my most sincere apologies if i had been "snippy" but if you reread entirely i think again it is just a misunderstanding due to my mediocre english.

Ok so in the end to be sure i understand well, if the feature track preset does not allow to bring the corresponding audio files of the tracks, im not sure how it could help me except bringing bus and routing architecture ?
But again maybe i miss something here.
