Folder Buss Consolidation Folder

Hey all,

I recently upgraded to Studio Pro 8. I create folders for all my track, then create a buss from each folder. The console view correctly shows the buss fader and the tracks that pertain to that folder/buss. What is missing is the little folder on the buss fader that used to be located just above the buss name, and next to the track number, that you would use to consolidate all the track faders into the buss. I have gone through all the preferences and can't seem to find where to add that back, or in it's absence, be able to consolidate the tracks. Your help is appreciated.

Hi, I know this is a late reply but I am trying to create the folder tracks in the console to consolidate various fx channels but simply cannot do it..also cannot find the "Link Expansion and visibility of folder tracks" you mention in settings but also cannot find anything called settings, there's session settings under the session heading and options under studio pro heading...can't figure out why something like getting a folder track in the console could be so difficult..
any help much aprciated.

thank you

Both the Arrangement pane and the Console pane have a little wrench near the top lefthand corner, giving access to the Options settings for those panes.

FX buses normally don't appear in the Arrangement pane, unless they have an automation parameter added to them. Once they show up you can drag them into a folder.

Hi switchback..thanks for that...I now have it checked to link expansion and visibilty of folder tracks...however, still can't figure out how to create these folder tracks in the console...I'm trying to have these tracks in the console without having them in the main project view, maybe this isn't possible..is it?

thanks again for your quick answer..

A quick way to add an automation parameter to an FX bus is to click on its fader or panning control. This puts that control in focus in the top lefthand corner of the screen, next to the little hand and the 'A in a square'. Clicking on the 'A' adds an automation parameter for that bus, making the bus appear in the Arrangement pane. That's where you set up your folders.

You just lost me there my friend...basically, is it possible for me to have these busses with the folder icon on them and put them in the console only?
my plan was to have them in the console with various fx tracks in them but not have them showing in the main project view...
please forgive my ignorance..bit new to this.

thanks again.

The Console doesn't show folders, only channels and buses. In the Arrangement pane you can pack several tracks (including FX buses with automation) into a Folder, and then add a bus channel to that folder. This bus channel will show up in the console, with a little folder icon on it. If you want you can hide the FX bus automation tracks in the Arrangement view, after you put them in a folder with a bus.
