Solved Feature Request: Disable all FX in the song

GIM Productions

Hi everyone, in the my previous daw there was the possibility to exclude all active plugins with a button.
It was a very useful thing because with very heavy projects even with 40 ms latency, excluding the plugins, I could record a midi part without latency.
It might be useful to add this feature
Greetings

Make a feature request - although it will probably be ignored

Hi,

please try to use meaningful thread titles. ‘Feature request’ is not very informative when reading it in the thread overview.

Can you elaborate? Using Dropout Protection / Dual Latency engine you should be able to record MIDI on the current track/channel without latency. Also, there's a button to deactivate all insert effects in the song.

So what exactly are you looking for that you can't do right now?

So, Lukas already implemented the feature request :) It's the Power button symbol in the lower left of the Arrange view, to the right of the Solo button. A cool feature is that it remembers the status of inserts when you toggle between active and deactivated. For example, if you've deactivated the inserts on one channel, deactivate all effects, then reactivate them, the status remains the same as before you deactivated.

If you're in the Mixer view, select all the channels. Deactivate the effects rack in one channel, and it deactivates them all. However, this doesn't remember the status of previously deactivated insert racks. When you activate or deactivate, they all turn off, or all turn on. So the Arrange view button is more nuanced in how it handles the situation.

Ok, this might be a workaround for a workaround, but: you could store the actual status with a mixer scene, right?

Yes, if that's the workflow you prefer. I find it easiest to use the dedicated "master" activate/deactivate button in the Arrange view. With the Console, I deactivate all inserts only for temporary diagnostic purposes (checking meter levels with/without effects). So, saving a Scene for future use isn't really relevant for how I work.

Yes, there was a dedicated button to exclude any effect of the project which in 90% of the time is not needed in midi recording, it allowed me to record without latency despite having ASIO at 40 ms on heavy projects

Yes, that button will Activate/Deactivate all your plugins...

The only problem with having the global bypass button situated on the arrangement section is that once you detach the console to a second display you can't power off all plugins from the mixer

Why? You can add a keyboard shortcut, you can use Find Command...

Or just move the mouse cursor to your first screen

Yes, that's what I do...

Sorry I should have explained, I use a 2nd monitor which is a touch screen. The console is permanently docked there. Having the activate all inserts on the console would be a workflow improvement for me

I use a touch screen and dock my console on it as well. I also place the macro toolbar on it, (and pin the level meter to the right of the console). If you set up the macro toolbar above (or below) the console, you can assign custom buttons for any macros, accessible with a single touch.

Yes, Macro Toolbar to the rescue...
