FADERPORT V2 Scrolling in Studio One 7.2.2

Hi Everyone,
New Studio one user here and new the this forum. Since installing the 7.2.2 update, scrolling through the timeline with Faderport V2 is hoppy and jumpy where previously it was very smooth. Sometimes it even jumps back in the opposite direction. Anyone else notice this while using the scroll wheel on any of the Faderport models? I'm thinking it might have something to do with the updates to Auto Scroll. Hoping for a fix but maybe there is simply a setting that needs to be changed?

Thanks,
John

Welcome to the Forum!

I'm not seeing that issue on my ioStation 24c (Firmware v3.71).
I'm running SO 7.2.3 and Universal Control v4.7.2.108537 on Windows 11 (25H2).

Have you submitted a Support Ticket (see link in my signature) yet?
If not, I'd recommend doing that.

I'm currently away from my setup and could check it next weekend at soonest. But if I recall correctly, I had no issues last time with a 7.2.2. It doesn't scroll "smoothly" (jumps from bar to bar), but the navigation was flawless.

A quick hack: Could you re-assure that the Faderport is in the correct mode for Studio One? Maybe it somehow "forgot" and is now in a different controller-mode. Check the manual for details (just in case you don't know how).

Hi,
Thanks, and yes, I have but hit a brick wall unfortunately with support however. It's is still happening in 7.2.3 as well. I will test with Logic (which is where I came from) when I get a chance just to rule out a hardware problem (firmware or physical). I really loved the workflow of scrolling through the timeline with my left hand on the Faderport while keeping my right hand on the mouse. It was so smooth at first but I am unable to nail down exactly when the problem started happening because I went back several versions (even to v6.X) and have not been successful at making it go away. I was certain it started after 7.2 however.

Thanks,
John

Hi,
l have tried all of that including reinstalling universal control but no luck. When I have a chance I will change the Faderport mode, open a project in Logic just to rule out a hardware issue and isolate it to Studio One. It was so smooth when I first started using Studio One and I loved it. I'm curios to see what your result is....Thanks, John

You don't have to install Universal Control to use Faderport. In fact, Universal Control is surprisingly stupid in the Faderport case, because it actually only allows firmware upgrades and nothing else.

More important is the correct operating mode for Studio One, but you have checked that in the meantime.

That was a suggestion from support to reinstall Universal Control but now you have me wondering if it's worth removing it from my system just to see if there is any improvement. Probably not if it has no bearing on the operation of Faderport but I guess if it can't hurt...Thanks, John.

Mine is as smooth as can be expected as well.
Just a stray thought, have you added (or removed, re-configured, driver update) any other MIDI devices recently? Maybe there's some communication hiccup caused by another device... Probably a long shot, but who knows...

Hi,
yeah, I may try another port or directly into my laptop but otherwise there were no changes to note recently other than Mac OS and studio one updates. I just ruled out Studio One though because Logic is doing the same.

Thanks,
John

No problems here. Bar at a time, smooth as silk.

Do any other functions fail to operate correctly?
