Faderport classic vs latest Faderport

I have had a faderport classic for more than 10 years, in this time I've also had faderport 16 and ssl uf1, I didn't keep them because the simplicity and small footprint of the faderport 1 is perfect, it's always near my left hand and it always controls whatever channel I have selected...

That said, I'm kind of interested in the newer version of the fadeport1, but I'd like to ask owners one question on this.

The classic faderport works in the background when Studio One is not in focus, so for example I could be using a web browser and restarting my song to listen to. I'd like to know, does the newer faderport 1 also work in the background in this way? I vaguely recall reading something to say that it might not, although I could be mistaken.

Yeah my Faderport classic (the only USB 1 device I'm using) is always blasting MIDI cc non stop in Windows whether it's being used or not, very annoying. I'd be interested to hear if Faderport One is more of the same.
