- It was a live record, and the best live reverb I can find to mimic a live room is in MIXVERB, the old reverb in Studio One. Small Drum Bus, I believe is what the preset is called. Most effects were outboard. All the instruments were close mic’s, but the room itself is very small, and mixverb added necessary space and definition. I think it’s the most unique reverb available standard in a DAW.
Also, overhead mics were CAD M179, which are some of the most underrated inexpensive large diaphragm mics around. Based off the old Equitek mics, they sound great without too much hyping.

Most of the songs I work on start in a different DAW and end up getting mixed in Studio One. But tonight I was talking with some people about some of the technical stuff I did an album I did a few years ago and realized it was done 100% in Studio One. Figured I’d share a song here from the album and if you enjoy it you can listen to more. This one features a few notable folks and I hope you enjoy it.
