Solved CV Instrument - Has anyone got it to calibrate successfully?

Hello,
I'm keen to get stuck in the new CV Instrument in S1v7. I'm familiar with the HW CV Instrument in Bitwig and the Silent Way plugins and I have no trouble calibrating those to my oscillators. However, I can't get the CV Instrument calibration to change to anything helpful. The best I can get is 13 semitones to an octave - so an octave is C3 to C#4. As far as I can tell, I have the connections correct, and I'm clicking the Calibrate button. The manual isn't very clear, and is actually wrong in some places. Has anyone out there achieved a calibrated octave? If so - how did you do it?

Many thanks
Robin

Hi, just in case you missed it, Gregor has released a new video on this in the mean time:

I tried it myself (using a Tiptop Z3000 with integrated digital frequency display) and it works pretty good.

I got two takeaways from Gregor's video:
  • I use a square wave for calibration
  • I pre set the oscillator to roughly mid A (440 Hz).
Otherwise the calibration seems to fail (red border around the button instead of green check mark)

Oh - thanks for that.
I worked it out in the end - it was my audio interface. It worked fine with Bitwig but there was something about it that Studio One didn't like - it's an SSL12. However, Presonus was able to test the interface and had no problems so it's one of those weird things. They've suggested disabling the mixer app - like Gregor did in the video - which is something i will try.... although again Bitwig had no problem. Anyway, I dug out another interface, a MOTU M4, and that worked fine. I've written a tutorial about it for Sound On Sound magazine which is out in a couple of weeks. I'll also make my own video about it after that. So, hopefully it's all good going forward. All Studio One needs now is an internal modulation system so you can send out more than notes :D
