Create seamless ambience loops in S1

hey!

given how wonderfult it is to work in S1, I'm evaluating the daring possibility to stop using Reaper all together for sound design, since in S1 I've already found a way to do everything I do in Reaper.

One last piece is missing: creating seamless loops for ambiences (and overall non-transient based material)

Not hoping for such a comprehensive tool but simply to

- create seamless loop where snap @ zero crossing is take into account.

Been diggin into commands and I've found "snap to zero crossing" but still too new to S1 and still experimenting with commands/macros.

Was wondering if you already did anything like it or if you have any tip

Thanks!

I make awesome endless trippy drones/ambients using Sampleton "Scaper" or for real crazy flights - AudioDamage "Enso".

For a more traditional path with an instrument - it is usually something like Sample Logic EmpyReal Atmos Designer or my favs from Luftrum - Biosphere and/or Lunaris 2. And of course - Spectrasonics Omnisphere - if you can't make an ambience in here - may as well give up.

In S1 - for something like Scaper - I "used" to simply create a MIDI event, hold down a single key for 2 or 3 minutes - then chop the event down to size and set it to loop.

But now in v7 - with the new Launcher - there is no need to worry about loops being seamless - simply record your sound into a new cell - click off Record when done and S1 will simply start a perfect loop structure all on it's own - in real time - all while you move on the adding your next track. If you need to tighten it up - or alter it - it is as easy as double clicking the cell - tweaking it and carry on.

I use the Launcher almost exclusively now and have been moving farther and farther away from traditional timeline-based work.

Yes, as Vocalpoint mentions, creating zero crossings are infinitely reliable within Studio One. Of course sample depending, as some sample or loop start and end points will vary. Launcher aside, smooth loops are one of my least worries in Studio One.
Cheers.

With two neighboring audio events (touching), select the X key. The two events (or as many events as you've selected), will be zero point crossed. Audio smooth. Transients or no transients.

Thanks both!
Will need to sit down and come up with a nice macro based on Snap to Zero Crossing
