Cold!

I was just about to add the vocal track to a project I've been working on when 2 days after Christmas, I began feeling the symptoms of a cold. I've gotten through the worst of it in the past week and a half but I still can't sing. My head is too clogged with mucous and I can't control my pitch very well yet. It's working on my nerves not only because of frequent coughing spells but I'd really love to finish this project. I know you're not doctors but some of you are singers. Do you have any suggestions on how I can hasten recovery at least enough to be able to sing?

Thanks

Lax vox is a good technique to ease and warm up the vocal cords. And camomile tea (which I hate btw.)

Other than that, think of a few low key parts you always wanted to sing. This is the time ;)

I had the nasty cold stuff that seems to be everywhere lately. When it got down into chest
area time for the "MyPurMist" It sure seemed to help breakout the crap in my throat / chest.
Didn't have to go to the Dr either

Now's your chance to do a Tom Waits tribute album! :) Other that that, put a pot on your stove and fill it with water. Boil the water, and inhale the steam. Be careful not to have it burn you!!! Do it from a distance until you calibrate the proper mix of steam and air.

That would be cool.😁
Thanks for the suggestions. I went out and got some of the chamomile tea. It's not bad at all. In fact I think I'm getting addicted to it. I already went through half the box of bags. I really like the taste especially with a half teaspoon of Splenda. Ricola lozenges are also helping to open up my head. I think my voice is gradually getting better. Guess I'll just have to continue to be patient and let time heal this wound.

All of the above sounds reliable. I know the chamomile tea w honey, gargle with salt water, and steam work for me.

I've been away the last week. Had to fly down to New Orleans. My lifelong and best friend and his wife lost their youngest son (25 yrs) in that Bourbon Street tragedy. It was where I needed to be for them and their family. I just got back.
I'll tell you what, get some of that Louisiana, home-made chicken gumbo in you, and that cold won't stand a chance.

Sorry to hear about your friend's son. So much going on in this crazy country lately I've lost track of all of it. New Orleans is where the guy drove into the crowd of people. It's unfortunate your friend's son had to be caught up in that. I've been downing Hall's Menthol eyptus.
🙂
