hi everyone,
i've encountered this issue a few times the past couple months while im mixing a song. its driving me crazy, because i can't figure out what is causing it - moreso, i dont know if this is an issue, or expected behaviour?
you can see, as an example below:
- voice synth inst : this is the original instrument track running NI Kontakt plugin with 1 single synth loaded. i am running it straight to main in this example. there are no insert FX on this track, OR on main. the only insert FX, is the 'level meter' from S1.
- voice synth bounce selection: this is the 'bounce selection' audio of the inst track. it also has level meter on the insert fx.
my logic tells me the following: if i put a Level Meter FX on the insert FX of: (1) the original instrument track and (2) the resulting bounced selection track, the level read on each of the Level meters, should be the same. I used K-14 based off the S1 manual for studios.
yet as you can see below, the level for 'bounced' instrument is about 5 db lower?
the 'perceived loudness' of both these tracks, sounds quite similar, but i think, the bounce selection sounds a bit lower. but im not sure my ears are playing tricks on me because of the visual graphic.
I checked the Main Console meter, and oddly, they look quite similar in the level display.
what am i missing here? any ideas?
