Best method to fix "horizontally overlapping" MIDI notes

Hello all: I imported some MIDI guitar fingerpicking chords with notes that are all overlapping each other all the way to the end of the bar. To fix the problem I have to select each note one by one and shorten the end of that note until it meets the beginning of the next note without overlapping. If a chord has 10 or 15 individual notes in a bar then I have to do this 10 of 15 times to fix the problem. I tried using the "Overlap Correction" in the MIDI Actions in S1 but it leaves lots of spaces between one note and the next because it makes sure that the notes don't overlap horizontally AND "vertically". That is not what I need it to do. I want the notes to not overlap only "horizontally". Is there an easy way to do this with a macro? Will the new "Harmony Wizard" (which I don't have) be able to do that?

What MIDI guitar, and MIDI source of pickup are you using? There are too many designs to guess at, and this is typically the issue with adopting guitars with MIDI. On a whole, it sounds like your sensitivity is set too high. So pitch to MIDI, or the slightest sounds are triggering more than what you need. That can also be string vibration related, delay, etc.
As you can see, we need more information from you. While you're at it, list your computer, audio interface and such in your signature so you'll only have to do that once for future questions.
Thanks.

There are a few Studio One ways to reduce over triggering of notes, but it's best to approach the source, first.

Hi Lokefly: I'm not using an actual guitar to generate the imported MIDI file. All I'm doing is importing a simple 1-bar MIDI file with notes in it. If you look in my other thread about "Fingerpick guitar", this MIDI file was imported by doing a weird trick exporting the MIDI from Fingerpick, then importing into Cakewalk, then exporting from Cakewalk, then importing into S1. I know it sounds strange but this is the only way that I was able to get the guitar MIDI out of the Fingerpick program and into S1.

I see, so you're really looking to filter the unwanted MIDI "stuff". Got it. Typically that stuff has short notes, so I'd apply some filtering by length. However if the notes are messy, and all over the place, and the performance already has a lot of staccato like playing or short embellishments (think of a jazz guitar type setting), then the old adage of "you can't shine poop" plays in.

Studio One has some OK MIDI filtering, but not on the order of Cubase or Sonar. So you're somewhat limited. That said, Lukas or a few guys here might have a script that better removes such unwanted short notes.

Lukas also has something that re-scales, and that might be a blessing for you.
Right, you got it. "Harmony Wizard".

I don't really want to remove any of the notes. Every note in the mix should remain in the mix but end where the next one starts. The "last" notes in each line of the MIDI mix should continue until the end of the bar.

I just looked at the characteristics of Harmony Wizard and it doesn't look like it will do what I need

Bummer. If it's any consolation, I'm all about fixing MIDI notes. Seriously, it can be a drag when one has a ton of adjusting to do. Perhaps by fixing some of the verse/chorus/part will speed up other areas later on.
Cheers.
