Solved AudioBox Go - Very low output from Shure MV7+ Podcast microphone

My son is trying to use the Shure MV7+ podcast mic into the AudioBox Go interface. USB is working well but the XLR output is very low. Even with the front panel gain turned up full output is still way too low. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this situation. He may need a cloud lifter to make it work. Disappointing that the AudioBox Go lacks enough gain even to get a decent signal.

The USB signal does not allow him to hear himself though using OBS. He needs the XLR out for monitoring.

Apparently it is a very low output mic. He will need a booster for sure. Can you delete a thread if you start one on this forum?

You can delete your posts but not your threads (first posts of a thread).

It's a well known problem as the MV7+ uses the SM7B capsule, so all gain 'problems' with that mic also apply to MV7+'s XLR output. Shure addressed the problem with the SM7B by releasing the SM7DB, same mic but with a built-in booster preamp. Pity that they didn't give the MV7+ the same treatment.

Yes thanks SwitchBack. I appreciate the info. The SM7DB is very expensive here in Australia. He is getting a mic booster. The USB output sounds excellent actually. With his hookup he needs the XLR out as well.
