0.1 offset in faders and automation in Studio One 7

Hello,

I've been noticing this for quite some time now, I think from version 6 onwards. The issue is that there seems to be a "loss of precision" in the automation lanes (sorry, that's the best way I can put it) where I automate some parameter, for example the volume fader and set it to some value, let's say, 6.0. Many times when I look at the automated fader value it now display an offset of 0.1 (can't say if it's plus or minus), so the volume is now shifted from the initial value I set in the automation.

Also, and I think this might be related, if I move a fader normally (meaning, not using the shift key for more precision) the values the fader snaps to seem to be "strange" like 5.1, or 0.1. It's like it's always a 0.1 difference from a "regular" value if this makes any sense...

I notice all this because I have a stupid OCD thing where I mostly move my faders in 0.5 units, so I never have a fader at 4.9 for example. Before I used to move the faders and could easily find the .0 or .5 points whereas now it seems to snap to different values. I'm wondering if they changed the coding algorithm for these snap values. What I'm sure is that something changed from version 5 to 6.

Anyone else noticing this?

Thanks

I'm new to Studio One and I noticed this phenomenon the other day. Same thing. Volume automation lane had some ups and downs and the default baseline value somehow changed from 0 dB to .1 dB, don't remember if it was + or -. I tried to change it back to 0 but it kept snapping back to .1.

My name is hieroglyph and I too have OCD

I am not seeing this at all in my setup. Automation is playing back excatly as I set it. If I have set to say -6.0 db then that is where it goes. You would be very lucky to hear a 0.1 db change in volume! Most people would not pick a 1db change in volume.

I've seen this, where it's not possible to get gain back to 0.0dB after moving points a few times, or even see the entire baseline moved by 0.1dB up or down. It's not so much the gain difference which, you're right, is nigh impossible to detect. What's nagging me is that anything other than 0.0dB means 'change something' when 'change nothing' is asked for. So wouldn't it be good to have +0.1dB and -0.1dB snap to 0.0dB, the difference being nigh impossible to detect anyway? Like that subtle center notch you can feel on balance knobs.

True, for sure I can't hear this and it's not a priority, but still it's a small issue and I just happened to notice the change in the behaviour. Let's see if PreSonus decides to check it out or not. Either way it's not a big deal.
